Saints fired a warning to Prestatyn and Bangor City that they intend on holding on to their crown as they outclassed Gap Connahs Quay 3-1 at the Deeside Stadium.
TNS took the lead around the 20 minute mark when Christian Seargeant’s teasing cross saw the ball fly off the head of the unlucky Nomads defender and pass a stranded John Rushton.
Saints showed their championship credentials after the break with talisman Michael Wilde heading in a decisive 65th minute goal at the far post from a deep Seargeant cross.
Rushton spared Nomads further punishment when he denied Kai Edwards and Aeron Edwards in quick succession as Saints really turned the screw.
He was powerless, however, to prevent star man Aeron Edwards putting the game beyond the reach of the brave Nomads, as the Saints' front man timed his run to perfection, before lobbing Rushton with a cool finish four minutes from time.
Nomads did snatch a late consolation through Michael Robinson who crashed home a volley from close range.
Meanwhile, Prestatyn’s impressive renaissance continued at Latham Park yesterday as they cantered to a comfortable 4-1 victory over Newtown to maintain their challenge at the top.
The North Wales outfit are level on points with the champions, who lead only on goal difference, and the title contest is already shaping up to be a three club race for this year’s crown with unfancied Prestatyn looking to break the Bangor-Saints monopoly and they continue to hold their own.
Journeyman striker Jason Price, who made over 400 Football League appearances, is proving a more than useful acquisition to the Bastion Gardens club as he scored his seventh of the season to put the Seasiders ahead at the break.
Greg Stones doubled the visitors' lead three minutes into the second half and an Andy Parkinson double secured the points for Prestatyn, although Zac Evans replied from the penalty spot to avoid a whitewash.
